Pregnancy/Maternity

Maternity leave fun

Learn piano

Do you miss the music courses you had in school? Do you still remember your best recorder song? Do you still hum your old tunes and sing school songs?

If you own a little electric piano or if you’ve inherited your grandmother’s organ, you could learn some piano basics using the Bastien piano method. Theory and practice books for beginners are sold in many music stores and will refresh your memory. It will also allow you to practice a few easy songs until you can read partitions and play Fur Elise with both hands. You must practice regularly; it’s the only way to learn!

Change your decor

You have changed! Your life is not the same, you don’t feel like going out, you’ve seen all the new series and your house is not as clean as you would like it to be. Because you are spending more and more time in your home, it would be a good idea to freshen it up.

Don’t hesitate to look at many design and décor websites before buying anything. When you will have a global idea of what you want your house to look like, you can get to work. Sometimes, you only need to simplify things to make it better. You don’t need to spend a lot of money; the simple fact of organizing your cupboards and to move furniture around will allow you to externalize the changes that are occurring within.

If you feel like it, paint in white, make It Zen, take a few trinkets away, rearrange your paperwork, buy what you need to sort your jewellery and your shoes. It will give your house a cleaner look. You can also buy a centerpiece like a big mirror, a painting, a new table or a new sofa that will attract the eye and give a fresh look to your home.

Finally, open your eyes, look around you and have fun doing things that you really feel like doing. We are only giving you a few examples but you could also travel if your budget allows, you can learn Spanish, learn to knit, it’s up to you to have fun since it’s YOUR year off and your baby will be happy to look at his happy and creative mom making beautiful things.

A teenager’s bedroom

Your teenager's bedroom is a disaster. You even invented new words to describe this horrendous place where food and clothes seem to blend into a new kind of carpet but your child doesn't seem to mind. What can you do?

My child is smelly!

Your child is now 6 years old. The innocence of childhood still shines brightly in his or her eyes but… they're smelly! When your child gets hot, you scrunch your nose and smell a tinge of sweat. Are they too young for deodorant?
