The kitchen
In a kitchen, everything must be practical and useful. The main source of visual cluttering in this room is the counter. You may not want to put the toaster in a cupboard every morning but the mixer doesn’t have to be available all the time. Put it away, along with every other piece of equipment that is not frequently used.
- Limit the number of small appliances on the counter and use multi-tasking appliances.
- Gather kids dishes in a basket in the lower cupboards. It will be easily organized and easy to reach for children.
- If you leave a dish-drying rack in full view, buy a nice one or install a sink with built-in drainboards.
- If you renovate, make sure that the top cupboard is as deep as the fridge. It will give you additional storage and it will be easier to reach.
- Have a container for the contents of your pockets, papers, money, etc.
