Théodore’s birth

A knight

Lydia Evangelidis, photographer and mother of two had this wonderful opportunity of witnessing the birth of a baby. She did so with professionalism and kindness and she allowed us to share with you these moments of emotion that rarely make it past the delivery room.

When I arrived, Catherine was wonderfully Zen, focused on each contraction. Her husband, like a knight, a protector, a fortress, accompanied her through each wave of pain.” Lydia E.

A devoted midwife

Lydia captured moments of great intensity like this one where we see Natasha, the midwife, listening to the baby’s heart with a reassured and happy mother-to-be.

Along with her husband, Catherine could rely on the support and the gentleness of an angel.”Lydia E.

The actors

It is said that to raise a child, we need a village. The beauty of birth lies in the details and in the beauty of human contacts that make it so splendid. Glances, tenderness and complicity were captured with a lot of finesse as the mother was trying to catch her breath between two contractions, at home.

“When I heard Catherine calling her mother in a guttural scream, and when he mother ran to place the trembling hand of her daughter in her own, I was submerged by an incredible wave of emotions.” Lydia E.

The last moments

Although the witnesses and parents are experiencing a moment of great intensity, this child who took nine months to get ready for this grand finale arrives slowly, pushed by his mommy and under the supervision of his grannie.

Every scream filled me with such pride! I was proud of her, proud to be a woman! I admired her resilience in every contraction that confronted her tired body and soul. Her efforts were not in vain: baby was almost here…” Lydia E.

Calm and serenity

After birth, a wave of serenity submerges us. The pride of bringing a new life to this world, a life that looks like us, that shares our features, the symbol of our love, gives us the improbable energy to keep going and take good care of this needy little baby.

“All the contractions, all the screams, all the pain, everything flew away and left a room filled with calm, serenity and love. Catherine was holding her baby boy against her breasts, repeating “My baby! My baby! I did it!”Lydia E.

The symbol

I always loved this image of a father cutting the umbilical cord, marking the moment when he will be able to take care of his creation too, at long last.

“Daddy cuts the cord. He is proud of his sweetheart but also of his little boy who had a lot to do to be here.”Lydia E.

The warrior’s rest

Mommy and baby are exhausted by the contractions and, reassured by their meeting, they can rest together, skin to skin.

Then, I took a few pictures of mommy and daddy getting to know their child before leaving to let them enjoy this aura of happiness and love that was floating in the room.”— Lydia E.

The beginning of life

The ultimate reward of this bewildering and memorable event is the life that is beginning, the world of possibilities that it brings and this fragile little being who will keep growing, with our help. Welcome aboard Théodore!

“I had witnessed the first breath of Théodore, his birth, his new life…”— Lydia E.

Ear infections, antibiotics, and prevention

Becoming a parent also means being acquainted with several small infections encountered during our own childhood. Ear infections are numerous and can leave you having lots of questions. We try to respond to the most frequent ones.

My child is often absentminded!

Do you find yourself often repeating phrases like "Hello? Is anyone there?" ? If so, it seems that your child is often absentminded. Here's how to help your distracted children stay concentrated.

A teenager’s bedroom

Your teenager's bedroom is a disaster. You even invented new words to describe this horrendous place where food and clothes seem to blend into a new kind of carpet but your child doesn't seem to mind. What can you do?

My child is smelly!

Your child is now 6 years old. The innocence of childhood still shines brightly in his or her eyes but… they're smelly! When your child gets hot, you scrunch your nose and smell a tinge of sweat. Are they too young for deodorant?
