Pregnancy/Maternity

Pregnancy is not living up to your expectations?

You are ashamed to be disappointed in your pregnancy? Don’t worry; you’re not alone as evidenced by the mothers on our Facebook page:

I was told I’d have a surplus of energy, glowing skin, silky hair and the feeling of being complete. In my case, it was just the opposite. I’m everything but glowing, my hair is oily, and I suddenly have the skin of a teenager. I love my big belly but it’s not always easy to find clothes without feeling depressed. Every pregnancy is experienced differently because each woman is unique. However, I have no regrets, and I will start up again as soon as baby is out!

I’ve always been told that pregnancy was one of the most beautiful times for a woman. I’m still not sure how. The only positive thing is that my nails became hard. At almost 39 weeks, I can assure you that I am so over the nausea and vomiting, back and pelvic pain, heartburn, insomnia, not to mention the impression that my body is no longer mine. The media should talk about all these things instead of making us believe pregnancy is nothing but magical enchantment. Yes, it’s great to feel the baby move, but mine is overly excited, and won’t let me sleep without waking me up with a kick!
– Pamela

Physically speaking, there are girls who experience pregnancies much more difficult than mine. Personally, it was the emotional and psychological state I was in I found to be the hardest. Without saying I was depressed, I felt completely lost. I had always dreamed of being pregnant and saw myself being radiant and sitting in the flawless living room of a new house watching my favorite show. In the end, I was still living with my parents, running around trying to find a house, working all the time and sleeping trough the rest. I was far from having the time or the energy to watch my show! And when it’s a first pregnancy, we always wonder if we’re going to be a good mom. But when my baby arrived, I forgot all my fears!

Movie suggestion

Have you seen the movie What to expect when you’re expecting? This movie tells the story of five couples who are going through pregnancy at the same time but in very different ways! We fell in love with the character of Wendy who after trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for two years, finally experiences the joy of bringing life into the world. But pregnancy is not what she imagined and she must face the reality that motherhood does not bring her the glow she was hoping for!

Ear infections, antibiotics, and prevention

Becoming a parent also means being acquainted with several small infections encountered during our own childhood. Ear infections are numerous and can leave you having lots of questions. We try to respond to the most frequent ones.

My child is often absentminded!

Do you find yourself often repeating phrases like "Hello? Is anyone there?" ? If so, it seems that your child is often absentminded. Here's how to help your distracted children stay concentrated.

A teenager’s bedroom

Your teenager's bedroom is a disaster. You even invented new words to describe this horrendous place where food and clothes seem to blend into a new kind of carpet but your child doesn't seem to mind. What can you do?

My child is smelly!

Your child is now 6 years old. The innocence of childhood still shines brightly in his or her eyes but… they're smelly! When your child gets hot, you scrunch your nose and smell a tinge of sweat. Are they too young for deodorant?
