Outdoor chores ideas for kids

A great way to forge your kids’ character is to get them to help you with chores around the house. Here are some outdoor chores ideas they will love to help you with!

Removing dandelions

The weeds look pretty to kids because they love its bright yellow color and its long petals. You can even ask them to make you a beautiful bouquet of dandelions and let them pick them themselves!

Water the garden

Children love water, that’s a known fact! If you show them how to water the flowers or the plants in your vegetable and fruit garden, they will have a wonderful time imitating you and they will also be able to freshen up and have fun by spraying each other!

Plant flowers, vegetables or fruits

It’s fascinating for kids to watch their food or beautiful flowers growing and being able to collect them! Why not dedicate a corner of your garden for a specific plant of their choice or even choose a nice garden pot?

Collect fruits from trees

If you have a fruit tree, you know that when the season starts, it’s a never ending process of having to go outside and picking up the fallen fruits! Invite your kids to join you and explain to them how they will be able to use the fruits for nice jams and tarts!

Remove dirt in pool with the net

Younger kids can get comfortable in a kid water float while the older ones can do it from the side of the pool! As a bonus, we can start showing them how to maintain the pool so they can take over when they are old enough!

Sweep around the house

Simply give them a broom adapted to their little hand and you can organize a fun race to see who will sweep up the biggest mountain of dirt the fastest! They can help us hold the garbage bag while we get rid of it all!

Wash the car

They will love to help you wash the car! Put some soap on a small sponge and let them rub the tires and the windows and give them the hose to rinse it all down. We love to finish the experience with an ice cream!

Clean the windows

It can seem a little boring, but kids love washing the windows! A sponge and a bucket of soapy water, and they will work away while making funny faces in the windows while you look on lovingly!

Hang clothes on the clothesline

If they are still little, they can simply help us by giving us the clothes pins and the clothes while the older ones can actually hang the clothes, giving us a much deserved break!

Take care of the dog

Families who have dogs know that there are a lot of tasks involved when taking care of a dog so they can be well and happy, just like their family! Younger ones can throw the ball while the older kids can walk, brush or pick up after the dog.
