Fun crafts for Valentine’s Day!

Handmade gifts are just as popular as the ones you can get in a store. Encourage your kids to get crafty and make a nice present or decoration to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Heart frame

For younger kids, this frame showing a heart-shaped handprint is the perfect project to introduce them to crafts. Get some red paint, white paper and a nice frame of your choice and simply put some paint on the side of your child’s hand like shown on the picture and print it on the white paper to form half a heart. Repeat the process with the other hand to complete the heart. For an alternative, you can also put paint on your child's palm and use 2 handprints to form the shape of a heart!

Box of mini cupcakes or treats

Heart-shaped crayons

Do you have a box full of broken crayons that you want to get rid of? Get some heart-shaped silicone candy molds, place the crayon pieces to fill the molds and melt them in the oven at 300 F for about 5 minutes. Repeat the process until the whole mold is filled with melted wax. Let cool for 20 minutes at room temperature and then cool completely in the fridge for 2 hours. The result? Fun, heart-shaped and colorful crayons that your kids will love to draw with!

A beautiful garland made of cones that can be filled with your favorite sweets and chocolates is perfect for Valentine’s Day! To recreate this garland, you will need red and white paper, scissors, a white marker, string, gift paper, a ruler and a stapler.

Window hearts by Martha Stewart

Start with a sheet of waxed paper measuring 12 inches by 16 inches that you fold in half lengthwise and unfold. Sharpen your crayons, collect the shavings and sprinkle them on half your wax paper evenly. Fold the three corners to make sure the shavings remain in place. Cover your table with Kraft paper, place your wax paper on top and then cover with another sheet of Kraft paper. Set your ironing board on medium heat and gently iron until all the shavings have melted. Let cool completely before cutting hearts of different sizes. You just have to hang them in front of a window for a nice and easy Valentine’s Day decoration.

Teddy bear card

A pretty simple card that will be loved by mom and dad! You only need red cardboard paper, a printed pattern of the bear of your choice, red paper, wire, a large pencil, scissors and a gold or silver marker.

Valentine’s Day card

To achieve this card, you will need white cardboard paper folded to form an opening in the front. Draw half a heart on each side and apply glue on the surface of the heart. Wrap pink or red wool on each half of the heart. Finally, make a hole on both sides of the opening, attach the two halves together with wool and form a loop.
