Meats and substitutes
Start with chicken, turkey and fresh fish and follow with beef, veal, liver, beans and lamb. Grate it into a puree and mix it with a vegetable the baby loves. He may find the texture awkward but will end up getting used to new foods!
Good for…
Meats and substitutes are an excellent source of protein and iron.
Eggs
Egg yolks are to be introduced at around the same time. Don’t forget that egg whites can only be introduced after the baby is 12 months old since the risk of allergies is high. You can mix the yolk with other foods or give it alone, but its grainy texture may not please your baby. Since eggs can be cooked in many ways, you will surely find a way that will please your baby. Good for…
Egg yolks are a great source of high protein, vitamins and minerals.
Remember that…
- At 8 or 9 months, babies can grab little objects so it's a great opportunity to give them little pieces of bread or soft fruits.
- Watch your child at all times when he eats to make sure he doesn't choke.
- Your baby is too young to decide not to eat just because he's picky. If he refuses to eat it’s because he's not hungry so don’t force him.
