7 Christmas decorations to create

Our children come back from school and daycare with beautiful decorations and we would like to participate sometimes. Here are seven ideas for you to create at home!

Paper chain and wreath

Do you remember your childhood’s garlands? These are wonderful for several reasons. They allow you to recuperate paper, they are beautiful, vintage and easy to make. Cut paper stripes and staple them together, one into the other, alternating colors. It’s as easy as one, two three!

Edible ornaments

Rice Krispies squares, gingerbread figurines and cookies attached with ribbons will be beautiful and delicious in your Christmas tree. Eat them between two candy canes!

Snowflakes

These snowflakes are very easy to make… when you know how! Here is a tutorial that will help you understand how to make one with your child. The result is even better when you use thick paper that keeps its shape. Try different colors and reserve about half-an-hour per snowflake if you are working with a child.

Lollipops

DIY lovers here is a great opportunity to play with clay! This is what we use to take footprints, make figurines and now… Christmas ornaments. I have seen several trains and candies in Christmas trees this year and clay is perfect to make some of your own. This lollipop tutorial will show you how easy they are to make! You will only need little sticks, some glue, glitters, pastel paint and a bit of clay.

Cupcake ornaments

If you don’t know what to do with your mismatched ornaments, you can always turn them into cupcakes. Everyone will love your new collection! This Youtube tutorial will show you how to do it…

3D cardboard Christmas tree

You only need a few minutes to make this Christmas tree. Fold a sheet in four to obtain symmetrical and identical trees. Cut half a Christmas tree in your paper and open it. You now have two identical trees. Cut one from the top to the middle and the other from the bottom to the middle and imbricate them together. Voilà!

Feathered tree

Another easy and inexpensive way to decorate glamorously is to glue feathers on a Styrofoam cone. You will find a boa and cones in any dollar store. Use them to make the cutest snowy forest for your little holiday village!
