Baby's development - 7th month

At 7 months, baby increases his visual acuity by opening up his eyes more and more, even if he can’t really see. If baby is a boy, his genitals are completing their development and the testes start to descend through the inguinal canal and into the scrotum.

In moving around for several weeks now, baby has increased his muscle tone and his bones have solidified. He’s really having fun and may move to a head down position, which can be quite uncomfortable for mommy, especially if he’s pushing on her chest. And as for the stomach and intestines, they’re doing their digestive jobs.

Baby’s skin is now pink and smooth because of the whitish vernix caseosa. This substance serves to conserve heat and protect the delicate newborn skin from environmental stress.

At the end of this month...
