When moms are very ill

Mental illness

A mother can also be affected by a mental disorder. Depressions, psychosis, bipolar disorders, or any other disease that can develop during adulthood is likely to affect a child who cannot understand this sudden change in his parent’s behaviour.

It‘s very important for the relatives to dramatize and explain the temporary nature of this crisis in order to avoid the confidence of the child being shaken. Until the appropriate medication takes effect, another trusted adult must report any change and disease progression to the child. The best way to do this is to talk regularly with the doctor who will see changes in detail and give you tips to give both parent and child the best possible support.

My child is smelly!

Your child is now 6 years old. The innocence of childhood still shines brightly in his or her eyes but… they're smelly! When your child gets hot, you scrunch your nose and smell a tinge of sweat. Are they too young for deodorant?
