The human mating season
We all know that animals have a specific breeding cycle ruled by a call of nature that can’t be ignored. What about us, humans?
We all heard a cat meowing loudly at any time of the day “Well, well, it’s in heat”, we conclude, without caring too much for that instinct that leads animals to reproduce in a very specific cycle. What about us? Are we also cyclical in our preferences and in our fertility?
According to some data compiled by the Statistic Institute of Quebec, we also seem to have more fertile periods in a year. If humans differ from animals with his year-round reproductive cycle, some periods seem more conducive to birth!

It is very interesting to note that during these nine years, the months of July, August and September are very often in the first three ranks. Is the cold weather responsible? If you go back nine months, it is in November that most babies are conceived in Quebec.
Children born in November and December tend to suffer from asthma while children born in August suffer from rhinitis and children born in December and January would have conjunctivitis issues.
On the contrary, it is in December that there are the fewest births in Quebec.

So, if July, August and September are the months of birth par excellence, February is the month during which fewest children are born, maybe because it is the shortest month of the year! December is always in the three last months, closely followed by November and January, present seven times. A quick calculation shows that it is in April that we are least fertile – or maybe we don’t make love as much in springtime?
How is that possible? Spring has always been considered the mating season. With the awakening of nature and the days getting longer while our clothes are getting shorter, it is beyond comprehension.
